Department Summary

The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all UNT Health students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office for Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.

Position Overview

The Division of Student Academic Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Student Services Coordinator to join our team. This position is responsible for providing professional and specialized skills for promoting equitable access to the educational environment for students with disabilities while also coordinating testing schedules and proctor coverage for exams and collaborating with Testing and Evaluation Services. Some remote work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in education, counseling, higher education, psychology, or other related field.
  • At least two (2) years of prior experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of disability law as it applies to higher education.
  • Experience with Microsoft products.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple events, prior knowledge of the ADA or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Ability to communicate professionally in writing and orally, exceptional organization skills and ability to store confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, ability to work effectively with colleagues by demonstrating respect for deadlines, collaborative problem solving, and honest communications.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions related to departmental functions.

Job Duties

  • Conduct registration meetings and case management meetings to a caseload of ODA-registered students with disabilities, addressing academic, social, and disability-related barriers in compliance with all state and federal regulations as they relate to students with disabilities in higher education.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records relating to student documentation.
  • Provide advising or crisis intervention to students and refer to appropriate support services when appropriate.
  • Support the ODA Testing Associate in providing students with a comfortable testing environment, ensuring approved testing accommodations are being provided.
  • Assist in providing outreach and programs to the HSC community.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to ensure an accessible learning environment for students with disabilities.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm, with occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends required.
