Department Summary
The Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) Office is committed to helping students achieve their educational goals by providing effective and meaningful financial aid assistance. FAS is responsible for processing financial aid applications, administrating various financial aid programs, and providing financial aid counseling to students and their families.

Position Overview
This position is responsible for managing a financial aid student caseload, processing of aid adjustments, assisting with officewide quality controls, and counseling students regarding financial aid to include eligibility requirements, available financial aid options, and the requirements for the renewal and retention of aid programs. Position serves as main point of contact for internal inquiries regarding a students financial aid status and for ensuring that student inquiries have been resolved. Serves as backup to the customer service team. This position must possess a deep understanding of federal, state, and institutional financial aid and scholarship policies in order to effectively counsel students and assist with the accurate and timely processing of their financial aid.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's in related field, three years in student services or related roles. Equivalent education, training, experience accepted. Must maintain good standing on federal student loans, grant NSLDS access for hire & continued employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office. In depth knowledge of financial aid processes, policies and procedures or ability to quickly assimilate. Ability to problemsolve, multitask and organize in a fastpaced collaborative environment. Ability to effectively communicate. Develops and maintains effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a financial aid office. Demonstrated strong writing skills Have documented presentation involvement Proficiency in the operation of personal computers and be able to learn new software programs rapidly Able to engage and communicate enthusiastically to diverse populations in a positive, courteous, and professional manner.Bilingual.

Required License/Registration/Certifications
Obtain clearance to NSLDS within 30 days of hire.

Job Duties
- Manages a financial aid caseload to help ensure accurate and timely administration of student financial aid.
- Processes manual aid adjustments and completes various quality control reviews.
- Serves as main point-of-contact for internal inquiries regarding student aid and ensures student aid related inquiries are resolved in a timely and effective manner.
- Serves as backup to the customer service team.
- Participates in financial aid presentations and outreach.
- Attends and completes trainings as assigned to include a review of Federal Student Aid and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board written guides.
