Department Summary

The Office of Student Finance is responsible for all aspects of a student's account. This includes but is not limited to the assessment of tuition and fees for account billing, collection of tuition and fees, third-party payments, student refunds, Installment plan options, and short-term loans. Student Finance is also a part of the UNT Health Community, providing financial services through the Cashier's Office. Some of these services include accepting and depositing departmental receipts and administering petty cash.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for design, integration, implementation, maintenance, upgrades, and performing management of complex and comprehensive (intermediatelevel) functional information system duties for Student Finance (SF). Acts as liaison between and works collaboratively with the department, Information Technology System Services (ITSS), and other internal and external stakeholders as required. Participates in system education, project planning/development and business process review/improvement. Responsible for ensuring all programming, reporting, communication, support and electronic workflow needs are met in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field and three (3) years of business analysis or business functional experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience using SQL against relational databases to code, interpret and execute reports/queries.
  • Knowledge of database structure and entity relationships.
  • Proficient in the use of reporting and decision support tools and the use of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience designing businessbased solutions.
  • Experience developing and managing information systems.
  • Experience training users and communication of technical information to people with varying levels experience.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple assignments.
  • Ability to be organized and keep meticulous records.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate, maintain, and assists with user security and account setups.
  • Provide support in the triage, troubleshooting and resolution of ERP related issues.
  • Identify and track system defects as well as enhancements to ensure the proper routing of problems to vendor, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with vendor support on the resolution applications issues and system problems.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of SF ERP.
  • Ensure system accuracy by working with users to conduct periodic audit of data, processes, and processing results.
  • Serve as liaison for SF in establishing ERP related priorities.
  • Represent SF in university committees and at vendor/users conferences.
  • Network with other systems support professional regarding problem resolution and system enhancements. Collaborate with stakeholders on ERP system.

  • Champion functional business requirements to ensure technology based solutions are properly developed and applied. Understand and oversee application of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to support functional business requirements of SF.
  • Act as an inhouse ERP expert and primary technical point of contact.
  • Technology-based Work with appropriate ITSS staff to assure ERP issues are addressed. Work with SF staff to design, implement, test, and maintain ERP in support of those areas, including any necessary coordination with ITSS and other offices on technical support and troubleshooting issues.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and participate in the functional testing of all ERP utilized by the SF during systems implementation, upgrades, patches, and other maintenance, including development and maintenance of testing plans, scripts and processes. 
  • Analyze business and information management processes within SF.
  • Recommend and implement effective uses of technology to support these processes.
  • Monitor, review, and evaluate appropriate new technologies which could potentially enhance the universitys ability to effectively manage and disseminate information.
  • Recommend, implement, and maintain automation processes, including use of automation tools, automated scripts, and electronic workflows.
  • Coordinate, develop and implement reporting, tracking and data extraction functions and processes, in coordination with ITSS and other stakeholders.
  • Design, develop, and produce detailed, standard and ad hoc reports.
  • Research topics relevant to SF. Perform data analysis and produce statistical summaries. 
  • Coordinate and assist in the development and delivery of training and online support resources for SF and other endusers.
  • Act as a liaison for end users, fielding questions, troubleshooting problems, and providing support.
  • Provide technical support, functional guidance and direction on ERP to assigned business unit user group, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain documentation for SF ERP and related business processes.
