Department Summary

The Registrar's Office provides support services to students, faculty, staff and other constituents in the areas of academic advising support programs, course scheduling, enrollment, degree verification, transfer articulation, test credit, athletic certification and maintenance of student academic records, as well as handles state and federal reporting.

Position Overview

Responsible for providing support to various aspects of the certification and residency area such as Athletic Certification and coordinates residency review and processing for continuing students. Manages enrollment verification operations, including verifications through the National Student Clearinghouse. Position will serve as backup to the Assistant Registrar for Athletic Certification, Residency and the Enrollment Verification/Reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree and two years of office administration experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in MS Office and other related technologies or ability to quickly assimilate. Skill in telephone etiquette and courteous communication with public, verbally and in writing, evaluating facts to trouble shoot issues. Strong customer service skills. Skill in the operation of a variety of office machines including, personal computers, telephones and copiers, filing and recordkeeping, English composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation and basic math. Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures ability to quickly assimilate.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working in a higher education setting. Familiarity with FERPA laws governing the privacy of student records Customer service background. Ability to quickly grasp detailed rules and regulations and apply them accurately to students situations.

Job Duties

  • Assists in the academic certification of student athletes according to NCAA Bylaws and certifies student eligibility for club and intramural sports. 
  • Prepares and analyzes reports for UNT Athletic Compliance and Advising and assists Athletic Advising with student schedule changes. 
  • Verifies current and former student academic history details through the National Student Clearinghouse and assists students with certification/verification forms as needed. 
  • Assist students, faculty, and staff in person, via email, and via phone in resolving questions and problems. 
  • Consistently updates documentation in an accurate, thorough, and well organized way. 
  • Communicates with students on Texas residency rules and application process; collect incoming core residency question forms and supporting documentation; send final correspondence when a decision is made. 
  • Maintains residency application organization, EIS accuracy and file imaging and updates citizenship/visa status changes in EIS. - ()
  • Completes special assignments, projects, and tasks as requested. 
  • Completes all required training as assigned.
