Department Summary

UNT Health is the academic clinical practice of the University of North Texas Fort Worth campus, where quality care meets quality education.
UNT Health primary and multispecialty care offices are located on the UNT Health Fort Worth, Denton and Dallas UNT System campuses, focusing on improving health outcomes to build healthier communities.
Care includes mobile health initiatives and extends to hospitals, surgery centers, long-term/continuing care centers, and in-home care.
UNT Health’s interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient.

Position Overview

HSC Health is seeking to hire a Patient Access Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Responsible for all clerical activities in a medical office using specific knowledge of medical terminology, Patient scheduling, billing, compiling and recording medical charts, and patient inquiries. Acts as a customer service representative offering assistance to patients. Ensure all clinic front desk processes are being completed

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Self motivated and takes ownership on projects. Ability to work in high stress environment.

Preferred Qualifications

3 years Medical Office experience

Job Duties

  • To be added by department.
  • Patient Access Specialist is responsible for New Patient registration, scheduled incoming referrals, Complete clinic schedule prep and check patient insurance eligibility. Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff. Receive and route messages or documents, such as laboratory results, to appropriate staff.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, procedures, or medical consultations. Greet visitors, ascertain the purpose of visit and direct them to appropriate staff. Completing patient appointment check in and check out.
  • Reviews clinic schedules for accuracy. Assists in training new front desk employees. Audit clinic prep in Phreesia and NextGen. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the department. financial statements, letters, case histories, or medical records.

  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.

Environmental Hazards

  • Work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
