Department Summary
The University of North Texas has over 170 buildings across more than 1,000 acres of land spread across the Dallas-Ft Worth Metroplex. The Facilities department provides services for the development, maintenance, and daily operation of all university buildings and grounds. Facilities is comprised of the following teams: Maintenance & Operations; Planning, Design & Construction; Space Planning & Management; and Support & Services.

Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing analytic tools and support for strategic expenditures in facilities and is responsible for the physical facilities to support the academic, research and community support mission of UNT. This includes the procurement, maintenance, repair, renovation and operation of buildings, utilities and supporting infrastructure for academic, research, residence and dining purposes.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and eight years of closely related professional experience. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Deep understanding of building systems, maintenance operations, sustainability practices and space planning. * Familiarity with managing capital projects, budgeting, construction and cost analysis. * Knowledge of planning for facilities, deferred maintenance strategies, and institutional planning.

Job Duties
- Plans for capital construction and recommends major facilities renovation and construction projects to provide adequate facilities to support the academic mission. Develops campus standards for new construction and renovation of university facilities.
- Plans and implements projects for provision of reliable and redundant utilities to university facilities. Coordinates with utility providers to ensure sufficient capacity and reliable service from commercial sources.
- Provides recommendations for solutions to meet facilities needs of university departments and activities. Oversees the design and construction of major facility renovation and repair projects to accommodate innovative teaching techniques and research requirements.
- Manages capital improvement budgets assigned to Facilities and maintains the university's five-year capital plan. Participates in capital project planning and design review efforts of the university System for major campus construction and renovation projects.
- Oversees the Facilities departments budget, human resource management, and all other aspects of the department which consists of:
1) Planning, Design & Construction 2) Support & Services 3) Space Planning & Management 4) Facility Operations including the functions of maintenance of campus facilities and utility systems, building renovations, energy management and conservation, maintenance and improvement of the campus grounds, cleaning of campus buildings, solid waste management, automotive services, capital improvements and deferred maintenance, safety and compliance.
- Hires, trains, monitors, and conducts scheduled evaluations of the work performance of employees supervised.
- Assists in pursuing new real estate development.
