Position Overview

Career Coach and Internship Coordinator in the G Brint Ryan College of Business

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of career coaching principles and practices
• Knowledge of internships and other work-based learning programs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced public speaking and professional networking skills
• Strong computer technology skills
• Efficient organizational and time management skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including faculty, staff, administration, employers, and student organizations
• Ability to attend to details while prioritizing among multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in business, higher education, and/or workforce development
• Master’s degree in a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience

Job Duties

  • Delivers comprehensive career development, workplace readiness, and internship preparation programs for UNT graduate students, in alignment with current policies and guidelines of the university, the UNT Career Center, Wilson Jones Career Center, Graduate Programs Office, G. Brint Ryan College of Business, academic departments, and applicable laws/regulations. 
  • Interacts with graduate students in person and online, for individual and group coaching on career planning, assessment tools, resumes, cover letters, interviewing, internships, and job search strategies, and the use of relevant resources. 
  • Facilitates the for-credit internship approval process for graduate students. Utilizes designated system(s) to verify accurate information, ensure compliance with academic requirements, resolve obstacles, and process approvals within short timelines. 
  • Creates and delivers outreach activities, workshops, presentations, and informational materials to promote career planning, internship preparation, and employer recruitment. 
  • Collects and documents accurate data records to track the activities of students both individually and in aggregate. Produces timely and relevant data reports for analysis and evaluation. Accesses and utilizes confidential student information with strict adherence to data safety protocols. 
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders using a customer service approach. Actively participates in collaborative initiatives, team meetings, and planning sessions. Assists team members with mutual backup. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Physical Requirements

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm with occasional nights and weekends.
