Department Summary
UNT System Information Technology is a component of The University of North Texas System. The mission of UNT System Information Technology is simple: to be the best at delivering customer-aligned IT solutions and services. Our services are provided to all member institutions using an IT shared services governance model.
UNT System Information Technology provides the primary technology used by all campuses to support their operations. These include: shared resources of data centers, computing hardware, software applications, network and voice communications, collaboration and productivity capabilities, central web services, risk management, and security and compliance services. As a department, we strive to provide the most professional personnel possible to serve our campus constituents.

Position Overview
The Platform Services Manager leads a team of Systems Administrators and Cloud Engineers responsible for the secure, reliable, and automated delivery of enterprise identity, productivity, and cloud platform services. This role provides operational leadership and technical direction across the organizations Cloud Platform Services, Microsoft 365 administration, Azure platform services, cloud automation, and security/compliance support, including CMMC-aligned administration and guidance.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, and 6 years experience in IT infrastructure, platform operations, or related areas, or any equivalent combination of education, experience or training.

- Deep understanding of technology platforms, infrastructure, and service alignment with organizational goals. - Strong leadership and team-building abilities, with proven ability to mentor and develop staff. - Demonstrated knowledge of automation, monitoring, and deployment tools. - Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. - Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills. - Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting compliance programs or regulated environments (CMMC, NIST 800-171, ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, etc.). • Experience implementing cloud governance frameworks (landing zones, policy-as-code, guardrails). • Familiarity with security practices and tooling (Conditional Access, Defender suite, Sentinel, vulnerability management workflows). • Relevant certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, SC-300, MS-102, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent.

Job Duties
- To be entered by department.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Systems Administrators and Cloud Engineers; set clear goals, expectations, and performance standards.
- Establish and enforce operational standards for the organizations Cloud Infrastructure (runbooks, SLAs/OLAs, change control, maintenance windows, and knowledge management).
- Assist in identity modernization initiatives (Entra ID integration, Conditional Access strategy, MFA standards, and secure authentication patterns).
- Oversee administration and governance of Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive, and related services as applicable).
- Own operational administration of Azure services including subscriptions/management groups, RBAC, policy, resource governance, and cost controls.
- Guide scripting and automation efforts using tools such as PowerShell, Azure Automation, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Terraform/Bicep, and Git-based workflows.
- Provide leadership for CMMC-aligned administration and operational controls in coordination with Information Security.
- Create and maintain a public and private cloud services roadmap aligned with business strategy, risk posture, and budget constraints.
- Participate in an escalation rotation for after-hours incidents and major events; coordinate response and communication during high-impact outages.
