Department Summary

The Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) Office is committed to helping students achieve their educational goals by providing effective and meaningful financial aid assistance. FAS is responsible for processing financial aid applications, administrating various financial aid programs, and providing financial aid counseling to students and their families.

Position Overview

This position will serve as the Associate Director of Financial Aid over the areas of federal, state, & private student educational loan administration, federal & state work study, and the Return of Title IV Funds process. Position will manage all functional and technical aspects, maintain compliance, and implement best business practices for these areas. This position must possess a high level of understanding of federal/state rules and regulations, institutional policies and procedures, and strategic goals. Position will report to the Director of Financial Aid - Operations, supervise a team of 5-6 FTE, and serve as a member of the Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) Leadership Team.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and six years of closely related professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Prior experience in the administration of financial aid programs.
* Prior experience in supervising and training staff in the administration of financial aid.
* Ability to interpret federal, state, and institutional student aid policy.
* Ability to develop effective relationships with other teams as well as internal and external partners.
* Excellent analytical and business process development skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and six years of related experience. Experience with PeopleSoft preferred.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal and must grant permission for the office to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to verify such standing.

Job Duties

  • Manage federal, state, & private student educational loan administration to ensure the timely, accurate, and compliant awarding, adjusting, reporting, and reconciliation of all student educational loan funds. 
  • Manage federal & state work study administration to ensure the timely, accurate, and compliant awarding, adjusting, reporting, and reconciliation of work study funds. 
  • Manage the Return of Title IV Funds process to ensure the timely, accurate, and compliant calculation and return of funds. 
  • 2Hire, train, mentor, and supervise staff tasked with the administration of federal, state, & private student educational loans, federal & state work study, and the Return of Title IV Fund processes. -
  • Develop, implement, and maintain best business practices, technical and functional processes, and daily quality controls related to student loan, work study, and Return of Title IV Funds administration. 
  • Ensure training, documentation, quality controls, and business practices are developed, maintained, and monitored to ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful communication and guidance is provided to students and campus partners regarding student educational loans, work study, and the Return of Title IV Funds process.
