Department Summary
UNT Health’s Center for Older Adults provides comprehensive care plans that help prevent and manage the chronic diseases and long-term illnesses that may accompany the aging process.

Position Overview
UNT Health is seeking a compassionate LVN to join our dynamic team of healthcare providers at the University of North Texas Health and Science Center for Older Adults. This role requires a candidate with strong organizational skills, a wide set of interests and skills, and strong interpersonal communication abilities. Candidate must have the ability to assess patients quickly and accurately. Exhibits compassion, understanding, the ability to work well in teams, and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment is critical for this position.

Minimum Qualifications
2 years of Primary Care, Geriatrics, or Internal Medicine clinical office experience.
|

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A licensed vocational nurse (LVN) provides medical care to patients under the supervision of providers and registered nurses.

|
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish). Previous experience, preferably with a student population, including telephone communication, ambulatory care, familiarity with adult vaccine schedules, patient rights, and safety.
- Experience with Medicare and Managed Medicare insurance plans.

Required License/Registration/Certifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. A valid Texas nursing License and a current CPR (BLS) certificate are required.

Job Duties
- Telephone triage for the Nurses shared "Critical Backline" for urgent calls.
- Communicating patient needs to Providers both on and off-site via the EMR.
- Assessing and prioritizing numerous tasks related to patient care needs.
- Prior authorization of medications - (Essential)
- Completing and relaying Clinician orders, communicating with external facilities such as Home Health, SNF, etc.
- Assessing patients who walk into the clinic with concerns or health care needs when there are no appointments available.
- Point of care testing when needed, rooming and intake of patients as needed.
- Reporting normal and abnormal labs and imaging results to patients and providing the Clinician recommendations and orders.
- Collaborating with other members of the Geriatrics Multi-disciplinary team to achieve the best possible patient outcome.

- Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
