Department Summary

The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all UNT Health students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office for Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.

Position Overview

The Division of Student Affairs at UNT Health Fort Worth is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Accessibility Operations, Testing & Assessment to join the Office of Disability Access. This position provides leadership for disability-related testing services, operational processes, assessment initiatives, and accessibility systems. The Assistant Director serves as the operational lead for the Office of Disability Access Testing Center and is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of testing accommodations, exam security practices, operational workflows, assessment activities, and accessibility-related systems in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and institutional policies.

The Assistant Director supervises the Testing Associate and part-time testing staff and provides oversight of disability-related testing operations, assessment and reporting efforts, accessibility systems, and continuous process improvement initiatives. This position maintains a caseload of students receiving disability accommodations and assists with departmental planning, compliance efforts, and strategic initiatives. This position acts on behalf of the Director when designated.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the ADA, Section 504, and current best practices in disability services.
  • Experience with data collection, reporting, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience utilizing accommodation management systems such as AIM.
  • Experience managing testing services, student services operations, assessment initiatives, or accessibility-related programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Student Affairs, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in disability services, student affairs, testing services, accessibility services, or a related higher education setting.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience in a higher education setting.

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership and oversight for disability-related testing services, including testing accommodations, exam security, testing procedures, overflow testing locations, and resolution of testing-related concerns.
  • Supervise the Testing Associate and part-time testing staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and professional development.
  • Maintain a caseload of students receiving disability accommodations and provide direct support through registration meetings, accommodation reviews, accommodation implementation, and ongoing case management.
  • Lead departmental assessment, reporting, and data management efforts, including the development of operational metrics, testing utilization reports, service effectiveness assessments, and strategic reporting.
  • Oversee accessibility systems, operational workflows, and continuous process improvement initiatives, including administration of the department's accommodation management system.
  • Assist with strategic planning, resource management, policy development, and operational initiatives in support of the Office of Disability Access and the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for Chief Proctors and Proctors regarding all aspects of classroom testing.
  • Review testing protocol and work with the Director of Testing Evaluation Services (TES) to implement new procedures as necessary. Create and maintain the TES testing and proctoring schedule. Coordinate and manage the computer based testing system and secure itembank.
  • Serve as the liaison with and primary contact for the computer based testing software vendor (i.e. Exam Soft).
  • Ensure all testing equipment and supplies stay current and conduct purchases for the TES unit as needed. Manage purchase orders and expenditures.
  • Communicate expenditures to Director for budgetary purposes.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all new testing related programs and services, and assist the Director with delegating new responsibilities to TES staff accordingly.
  • Assist the Director with monitoring staff workload and assisting when needed to ensure overtime is minimized and workload is evenly distributed.
  • Serve as the primary contact to all programs regarding the development and management of an item categorization plan.
  • Assist UNT Health administration and curriculum development committees with the collection, tabulation, and analysis of student assessment data for administrative use and/or in assisting with policy and procedure enforcement.
  • Participate in the development of policy and procedures related to examination administration and computer based testing.
  • Interpret and enforce policies, procedures, and strategies related to examination administration and computer based testing and serve as an authoritative source for such information.
  • This position excludes recruitment programs administered by a country designated by the State of Texas or United States as a foreign adversary.
