As the largest self-supported food service department in North Texas, UNT Dining Services is setting the standard for campus dining. With five Dining Halls, more than 20 retail locations, an upscale restaurant, a hydroponic garden, a central scratch bakery, and full-service catering, the department is led by a team of professionally trained chefs and hospitality experts. UNT is recognized as a national leader in university dining, known for its innovative, trendsetting approach and award-winning culinary talent.
UNT Dining Services is home to Mean Greens Café, the nation’s first 100% vegan collegiate dining hall, and Kitchen West, Texas’ first and only university dining hall certified Free From™ the Big 8 food allergens and gluten. In 2021, UNT introduced Eagle Landing, the university’s first standalone dining hall, inspired by urban food halls and featuring seven distinct restaurant concepts—all available for a single Meal Plan swipe.
Recognized for excellence, UNT was ranked No. 2 nationwide for best college food by Delish.com. The department is also the proud recipient of the prestigious Loyal E. Horton Award and the Vegan Recipe Award from the National Association of College and University Food Services. Position Overview
University of North Texas Dining Services is seeking dependable and customer-focused Hourly Dining Associates to support daily operations across UNT Retail Dining locations. Our retail dining venues include a variety of quick-service restaurants, cafés, and branded concepts that serve students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
In this role, you will assist with a variety of front-of-house and back-of-house responsibilities to ensure efficient daily operations and an exceptional guest experience. Duties may include preparing food and beverages, assembling customer orders, operating a cash register and point-of-sale system, stocking food and supplies, maintaining clean and organized work areas, following food safety and sanitation standards, and providing friendly, professional customer service. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs.
The ideal candidate is dependable, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to delivering excellent customer service. Strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and a positive attitude are essential. Previous experience in food service, retail dining, hospitality, or customer service is preferred but not required.

Job Duties
- Prepare and serve food and beverages by following standardized recipes, portion guidelines, and quality standards to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests, accurately taking and fulfilling orders, operating the point-of-sale (POS) system, and maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards by properly operating food service equipment, handling food safely, cleaning workstations, and following all health, safety, and security procedures.
- Support daily retail dining operations by stocking food, beverages, and supplies, washing dishes and utensils as needed, and maintaining clean, organized dining and kitchen areas. -
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of UNT Retail Dining locations and contribute to a positive dining experience for the campus community.
