Department Summary
The mission of UNT's College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is to kindle the thirst for truth, justice, and beauty; to foster cultural literacy and scientific investigation; and to cultivate thinking, speaking, and writing abilities characterized by clear expression and logically coherent, evidence based arguments. The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Advising Office's mission is to teach, assist, and empower students to define, clarify and achieve academic and personal goals through professional, caring service.

Position Overview
This position is responsible for advising students on degree/program requirements and course scheduling. Maintains and updates student status records, transcript evaluations, degree plan audits, and graduation applications.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong presentation skills; strong problem solving skills. Ability to learn and use a variety of simple to complex computer applications. Ability to communicate effectively with populations verbally and in writing. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work independently.

Experience working directly with college students.

Job Duties
- Advises students regarding degree requirements, academic issues, and evaluates progress to graduation.
- Advises students in selecting courses for future terms using Advising Record and documents advising related work in Salesforce.
- Corresponds with students concerning questions about degree requirements, transfer hours, etc., via various forms of communication. Assists students with exploring other degree options or majors.
- Provides appropriate referrals to online and campus resources for students as well as information and answers to questions from prospective students and parents.
- Works at both Transfer and Freshman Orientation sessions by advising students at departmental advising sessions and conducting orientation presentations as needed.
- Prepares, updates and checks degree audits, prioritizing VA, ROTC, Financial Aid and other exceptional degree audits. Makes changes in degree audits when discrepancies or substitutions occur.
- Processes graduation applications. Advises students when problems or questions arise.
- Serves as on call advisor for the office serving all CLASS majors by answering phone calls, emails and seeing walk ins and/or assisting at the front desk on an as needed basis.
- Assists in updating both three- and four-year plans, catalog copy and major specific articulation guides.
- Assists with projects and programs as needed.
- Works in a professional cooperative manner with students, faculty, and staff across campus. Demonstrates an ability to be an effective team member of the office by assisting others when needed.

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; some evenings, weekends, and off-site.
