Department Summary
Representing many world languages, literatures and cultures, our dedicated faculty promote excellence in research, teaching and professional service. We teach our undergraduate and graduate students communication, critical thinking and research skills for competitive employment around the world.

Position Overview
Performs advanced administrative and operational support requiring independent judgment, interpretation of policies and procedures, and administrative decision-making. Coordinates and drives key unit initiatives, promotes unit programs, and serves as an integral contributor to the efficient day-to-day operations and overall success of the department.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
|

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Exceptional customer service skills. Advanced written communication skills. Advanced Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures. Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others. Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively. Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness. Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships. Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.

Job Duties
- Manage unit budgets, financial operations, purchasing, travel, contracts, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Coordinate human resources functions, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, payroll, graduate student administration, and personnel records.
- Oversee academic and administrative operations, including course scheduling, testing, graduate admissions, accreditation, scholarship awards, inventory, facilities, and compliance.
- Provide administrative support to the unit director through reports, correspondence, meeting coordination, policy implementation, and records management.
- Supervise office operations, administrative staff, and customer service while ensuring adherence to university and grant policies and procedures.
- Plan and coordinate unit events, faculty searches, ceremonies, and other special projects.
- Manage unit communications, including website content, social media, and serving as the primary point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
