Department Summary

The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all UNT Health students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office for Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.

Position Overview

The Student Services Specialist will provide excellent customer service and support to UNT Health students. This position will assist in providing on-site operational support, planning events, development of programming, outreach efforts, and preparing and maintaining databases. This position fosters student success by ensuring services and resources are accessible and efficiently maintained and delivered.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines in a high paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively through all modalities and professionally represent the department and UNT Health.
  • Experience working with local resources and community partnerships.

Job Duties

  • Provide on-site operational support for the UNT Health Student Food Pantry, including managing donations, volunteers, ordering, delivery and pick-ups, and ensuring the space is clean, organized and appropriately stocked.
  • Provide on-site operational support for the UNT Health Professional Attire Clothing Closet, including managing donations, drives, and ensuring the space is clean, organized and accessible to students.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and assessment of SARC programming. Coordinate logistics for outreach activities, meetings, and events for SARC services.
  • Coordinate data management efforts for the Student Food Pantry and Professional Attire Clothing Closet. Provide support for SARC services, including student meeting support when needed.
  • Process requisitions and purchasing card transactions.
  • Develop and create marketing materials for SARC services.

Physical Requirements

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
  • Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Environmental Hazards

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, with occasional evenings or weekends required for divisional events. Trips to pick up items for the Student Food Pantry and Professional Attire Clothing Closet within normal working hours required.
