Department Summary
The First Generation Success Center supports and leads first-generation students toward opportunities of engagement, success, and community through programming, advising, and resources to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to become the next generation of academics, community leaders and professionals, while also becoming the first in their families to achieve a college degree.

Position Overview
The Emerald Eagle Scholars Program, housed in the First-Generation Student Success Center, provides access to higher education for academically talented students with high financial need. The program connects students to campus resources while engaging them in activities that facilitate their intellectual engagement, academic success, and the timely completion of their bachelor's degrees.
This position is responsible for the coordination/daily operations of the UNT Emerald Eagle Scholars program. EESP is UNT's signature tuition guarantee initiative for high achieving and modest-income students who a have a passion to succeed in college. These students are largely first-generation and this position will work collaboratively with campus partners and the First-Generation Success Center team.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-Exceptional customer service skills. -Advanced Microsoft Office skills. -Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures. -Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others. -Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. -Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively. -Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness. -Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships. -Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function. -Supervisory skills.

Job Duties
Coordinate and provide leadership for all aspects of the Emerald Eagle Scholars Program, including the Financial, Academic, and Engagement pillars of the program.
Provide leadership in the recruitment of each class of Emerald Eagle Scholars.
Develop and coordinate appropriate and/or innovative programs that meet the needs of this population of students and considers the specific needs of each classification of Emerald Eagle Scholar.
Hire, train, and supervise student employees and graduate assistants.
Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with academic departments, faculty members, student affairs, and other university departments and offices to ensure a holistic experience for Emerald Eagle Scholars.
Work closely with Admissions and Financial Aid to facilitate the recruitment and financial awarding of Emerald Eagle Scholars.
Sustain an awareness of current research trends in terms of low socioeconomic and/or first-generation college students.
Assist in the development and implementation of assessments, evaluations, and research activities related to the program.
Assist with the development, revision, and distribution of marketing, educational, and informational publications and materials related to the Emerald Eagle Scholars Program.
