Department Summary
The University of North Texas is a Carnegie R1 research university located in Denton, Texas, within the vibrant and rapidly growing Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The G. Brint Ryan College of Business is accredited by AACSB International and offers undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and professional programs designed to prepare students for leadership in an increasingly complex global economy.
The Department of Supply Chain Management is an academic department within the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at the University of North Texas. The department’s mission is to advance supply chain knowledge and practice through impactful research, innovative education, meaningful industry engagement, and the development of students who are prepared to lead in complex and rapidly changing organizations.
The department offers academic programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Its undergraduate portfolio includes the Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management with concentrations in Logistics, Operations Management, Aviation Logistics, Purchasing, and Supply Chain Analytics. The department also supports the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution.
UNT’s supply chain programs are distinguished by innovative curricula, experiential learning, strong employer relationships, and extensive engagement with the Dallas–Fort Worth business community. The undergraduate supply chain program was ranked No. 4 in Gartner’s 2024 Supply Chain University Top 25, reflecting its academic quality, industry relevance, and commitment to preparing students for successful careers.
Department faculty conduct basic and applied research across a broad range of supply chain topics, including logistics, sourcing and procurement, operations management, transportation, supply chain analytics, technology, resilience, risk, sustainability, and complex systems. Faculty members publish in leading academic journals, collaborate with industry and government partners, mentor doctoral students, and contribute leadership to major professional and scholarly organizations.
The department benefits from its relationship with the Center for Logistics & Supply Chain Management and the Center for Strategic Sourcing. These partnerships support student development, industry engagement, applied research, executive education, scholarships, internships, and collaboration with organizations throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth region and beyond. UNT’s location in one of North America’s most important logistics and distribution hubs provides exceptional opportunities for research, teaching, and industry collaboration.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Overview
The Department of Supply Chain Management in the University of North Texas G. Brint Ryan College of Business invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management. The anticipated appointment will begin Fall 2027 and will be based primarily on the UNT Denton campus.
The successful candidate will maintain an active program of high-quality research with the potential for publication in leading supply chain management, logistics, operations management, or related business journals. The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, contribute to the department’s academic programs, mentor students, and participate in service activities appropriate to rank.
The department welcomes candidates whose research and teaching interests fall within supply chain management. Areas of particular interest may include: • Logistics and transportation • Sourcing, procurement, and supplier management • Operations and process management • Supply chain analytics and artificial intelligence • Supply chain technology and digital transformation • Sustainability and circular supply chains • Aviation logistics • Humanitarian, healthcare, public-sector, or defense supply chains
Candidates with complementary expertise that strengthens or expands the department’s existing capabilities are also encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be expected to: • Develop and sustain a productive, high-quality research program with the potential for publication in leading peer-reviewed journals. • Teach supply chain management and related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. • Deliver courses in face-to-face, online, hybrid, or other formats consistent with departmental needs. • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of departmental curricula and academic programs. • Mentor undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. • Collaborate with faculty members on research, teaching, and program initiatives. • Pursue external research funding or industry-supported research when appropriate. • Engage constructively with the department’s industry partners, centers, alumni, and professional communities. • Participate in departmental, college, university, and professional service. • Support the university’s commitment to student success and an inclusive learning and working environment.

Minimum Qualifications
• A doctoral degree in supply chain management, logistics, operations management, purchasing, transportation, industrial engineering, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution by the time of appointment, or have equivalent applied experience in accordance with faculty credentialing guidelines • Evidence of the ability or potential to conduct high-quality scholarly research. • Evidence of the ability or potential to publish in respected peer-reviewed journals. • Evidence of the ability or potential to provide effective university-level instruction. • Strong communication skills. • Candidates who are ABD will be considered, provided that all doctoral degree requirements are completed before the appointment begins.
Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate: • A clearly defined research agenda with strong potential for publication in leading journals. • Publications or manuscripts under advanced review in recognized supply chain management, logistics, operations, or related journals. • Expertise that complements the department’s existing research and teaching strengths. • Experience teaching supply chain management or related courses. • The ability to teach across multiple levels and instructional formats. • Experience working with doctoral students or participating in doctoral education. • Potential to secure external research support. • Interest in interdisciplinary, industry-engaged, or applied research. • Experience developing relationships with companies, government agencies, professional associations, or other external organizations. • A record of collegiality and the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
