Position Overview
The College of Engineering at the University of North Texas is seeking highly qualified candidates for 13 tenured and tenure-track faculty positions in several research clusters to fill positions across the college. The selected candidates will be expected to work collaboratively within their cluster and across the college while supporting their home department.
As AI touches all departments within the College of Engineering, this cluster considers applicants from all engineering backgrounds. Two faculty lines are available in this cluster: one at the assistant professor rank in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and one at the associate or assistant professor rank in any department in the College.
Candidates are sought who advance the foundations of artificial intelligence and machine learning, from reinforcement learning to biocomputing to the emerging intersection of AI and quantum computing. We also seek candidates who bring those methods into the engineered systems (design, build, and operate), whether those systems are computational or physical. Successful applicants will show depth within their own discipline together with the ambition to work across the College. We are also interested in candidates whose research addresses AI for engineering and computer science education.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop and sustain a nationally recognized, externally funded research program; teach undergraduate and graduate courses; mentor graduate students and trainees; foster interdisciplinary collaborations; and contribute meaningful service to the university, profession, and broader research community.
