Department Summary

The College of Education (COE) at the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton has been an innovator in preparing educators since being established in 1890 as a teacher’s college. Today, the College of Education continues this tradition by developing professionals who help others reach their full potential through powerful learning, social-emotional wellness, physical health and civic engagement. The college offers 12 bachelor’s degrees, 19 master’s and 15 doctoral concentrations that provide the training and field experience needed to teach people how to live more productive lives.

Position Overview

Responsible for recruiting students both online and in person and informing them of admission requirements for the college and/or academic programs. This position is responsible for designing, preparing and managing online and in person marketing campaigns for student recruitment. This position may manage a geographical territory to connect with prospective students, this will involve extensive travel.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in recruiting, academic advising, counseling, student services, customer service or related experience or can substitute education for experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong presentation skills and problem solving skills. Developed interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Experience with Microsoft Office Products. Ability to obtain credit card for travel. Good driving record and access to a vehicle. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Professional in appearance, motivated, selfdirected and have the ability and willingness to communicate enthusiastically with populations in a positive, courteous and professional manner. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Willingness to travel extensively.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing and using online platforms with prospective students. Prior experience with online teaching/learning or digital resources. Exceptional organizational skills. Customer services skills. Competency in MS Office programs as well as publishing, marketing and online media tools. Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.

Job Duties

  • Create and manage online and in person marketing campaigns for recruitment of students for the College of Education in both graduate and undergraduate programs. 
  • Followup and interact with potential students in person and online to give them information about COE programs. 
  • Work collaboratively with COE communications specialist to promote online presence of recruitment information regarding COE online graduate programs. Monitoring database of interested students and providing advising information to students seeking additional information. 
  • Travel to onsite events hosted by school districts to recruit for both undergraduate students as well as graduate students for in person and online programs. 
  • Manage online contacts coming from COE graduate web page for campus based programs. Respond to student request for information and forward requests as appropriate to programs and departments. 
  • Prepare presentations for recruiting events both online and in person. Work in Salesforce to track data regarding numbers of applicants and successful student recruitment numbers. 
  • Assist potential online students with the admissions process, provide response to student questions about admission and help guide online students through the admissions process. Connect online students with needed resources such as financial aid and Toulouse graduate school.

Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday and some evenings and weekends may be required. Must have access to a reliable vehicle for travel needs, as travel can be up to 70% of the time.
