Regent University’s School of Communication and the Arts invites applications for Chair of the Department of Music as a full-time senior-level professor; appointment rank will be dependent on experience and background. This position will be located at Regent University’s Virginia Beach, VA campus.

Music is a vibrant, growing field at Regent University. The Department of Music and Worship Arts features undergraduate degree programs in vocal performance, songwriting, worship leadership and technologies that span contemporary and classical forms and practice. The Chair of the department will teach undergraduate music courses, coordinate with programs across the university and in the community, and lead academic and co-curricular initiatives as the program grows into a next generation incubator for real-world training and cutting-edge performances.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial scholar holding an appropriate terminal degree. The ideal candidate will have a significant research and creative portfolio, evidence of successful undergraduate teaching, and a clear and compelling Christian commitment. Areas of accomplishment should include at least one of our expanding music programs, including but not limited to songwriting, worship leadership, worship technologies, and contemporary vocal performance.

Expectations include 1) a dedication to Christ-centered teaching and learning; 2) a record of or potential for academic scholarship; 3) the ability to teach undergraduate-level courses; 4) familiarity with online instructional technology; and 5) a willingness to embrace the College and University Identity and Mission statements and subscribe to a statement of Christian faith.
