Under the direction of the Head of Resource Management and Public Services, the Access Services ILL/DD Supervisor will assist in all duties that facilitate the functions of the Access Services department and perform any fulfillment services procedures as directed. This position will be responsible for the supervision of all Resource Desk activities.

Essential duties:

  • Supervise and train about 14-16 student assistants for user service duties.
  • Manage Resource Desk services by assisting patrons and directly supervising student employees in Resource Desk processes.
  • Assist with the screening, interview/hiring, and training of student employees.
  • Supervise library operations and the facility while assisting patrons and responding to any emergency in the building.
  • Collaborate with other Fulfillment Services personnel to deliver resources effectively and efficiently to patrons.
  • Manage library stacks and gift book processing.
  • Manage all course reserves and study space reservations.
  • Manage records and statistics that are essential to the department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • A minimum of two years of Academic library experience with prior supervisory experience within the Access/Fulfillment Services departments required
  • Must be able to use and teach computer skills
  • Must be willing to learn the library’s policies and procedures while interpreting library policies cheerfully, sympathetically, and firmly
  • Must have ability to stand for extended periods, push loaded carts, shelve heavy books, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some night and weekend hours
