Base salary of $66,212 - $73,085.00 p.a plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading (pro rata)

About the role

TAFE NSW is seeking a Technical Assistant – Trade Based General to work at our Newcastle Campus. This position is a Full Time Part Year position (35 hours per week, 44 weeks per year) and this role will be paid between $36.26 - $40.02 per hour. The role is responsible for providing support in the preparation of materials and equipment to support educational delivery. In the role, you will ensure the ongoing care and maintenance of equipment, facilities, and grounds with the teaching section. 

The role involves offering support to the teaching staff in the delivery of assessment and training of practical tasks. As well as maintaining the tools and equipment utilised by the teaching section in accordance with Work, Health, and Safety requirements. 

About You 

Working in a supportive environment, you will play a vital role in assisting with the delivery of educational programs. Your experience in a trade environment and well-developed knowledge of tools and equipment will be key in this role. Your initiative to identify and organise resources required by students and staff will deliver service excellence.  You will enjoy working in a performance driven team with strong values and integrity. 

If you have… 

  1. Trade qualifications appropriate to the role and trades area and/or relevant industry experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability to service, clean, repair and safely operate workshop machinery.
  3. Demonstrated application of practical, administration and computer skills to support supply, stores, maintenance, warehouse related duties and record keeping or similar activities.
  4. Demonstrated customer service, organisational skills and ability to work as a member of a team with minimal supervision.
  5. As required, possession of or willingness to obtain prior to commencement of employment the following: Drivers Licence, First Aid Certificate, Forklift Licence and Electrical Tag and Test Certificate.
