About the role
We are seeking highly skilled, passionate, and visionary design educators to inspire and guide the next generation of design students. This is a temporary part-time teaching role based at Kingscliff Campus, requiring 7 hours per week until July 2026, with the possibility of increased workload and extension of contract.
You will share your industry experience, and your knowledge and passion for design to help students build their skills, gain qualifications, and enhance their employability. Your guidance will support students in achieving their career goals in one or more design disciplines, including Design General, Interior Decoration, and Graphic Design.
About You
You are a motivated and experienced design professional and educator with a strong desire to share your knowledge and mentor emerging creatives. You bring:
- Extensive experience in, and strong professional networks in the Design industry.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within cross-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent visual, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational, design, and mentoring abilities.
- A high level of motivation and a commitment to student success.
- Experience delivering training face-to-face and online, using digital learning technologies.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Hold appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications with a minimum level of Certificate IV of Design, Interior Decoration or Graphic Design or equivalent, and a commitment to maintain technical currency.
- Have a minimum of three years post-qualification experience in the design industry relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.
- Evidence of holding the appropriate teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training. See the candidate support document (here) for details
- Be prepared to continue to develop your Vocational Education and Training (VET) knowledge and skills as well as your industry currency and trainer/assessor competence.
Highly Regarded:
- A Bachelor or Diploma in Design, Graphic Design, or Interior Design.
- Strong hand drawing and CAD drafting skills
- Skills in 3D design and digital rendering tools, and/or experience with tools for immersive design presentations.
- Experience with AI-assisted design tools and workflows.
- Knowledge of design theory and history.
- Familiarity with digital collaboration platforms.
- Competence in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
- Familiarity with sustainable design and eco-conscious design practices.
