$91,081 - $100,536  salary package - includes base salary ($80,246 - $88,576) plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading (if part time add paid pro-rata)

The Construction and Energy faculty is establishing a Technical Assistant Talent Pool to fill temporary and ongoing vacancies across the Illawarra region over the next 18 months.

About the role

As a Technical Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting teaching staff through a strong customer-focused approach and a commitment to high-quality service. Working collaboratively with educators and students, you will help create a positive, safe, and welcoming learning environment that enables the successful delivery of educational programs.

You will be responsible for providing practical support across workshop and classroom activities, ensuring teaching resources, equipment, and materials are prepared and maintained to a high standard. With a proactive and professional attitude, you will contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the campus, support continuous improvement initiatives, and assist in maintaining an environment that promotes excellence in learning, teaching, and student outcomes.

 About you

We are seeking a passionate Technical Assistant that excels in a customer facing environment. As a part of this role, you will also have demonstrated technical and digital skills (including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite).

To be successful for this position you must possess:

  • Trade qualifications relevant to the Electrical trade discipline or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to service, clean, repair and safely operate workshop machinery.
  • Demonstrated application of practical, administration and computer skills to support supply, stores, maintenance, warehouse related duties and record keeping or similar activities.
  • Demonstrated customer service, organisational skills and ability to work as a member of a team with minimal supervision.

 Essential Requirements

A valid Working with Children Check (required prior to commencement).

  • Trade Certificate (Certificate III level or above) and/or extensive equivalent relevant industry experience. Knowledge of and/or experience in stock control or warehouse related duties including receipt and dispatch processes and record keeping.
  • Possession of a current Drivers Licence.
  • Hold a current forklift licence and other licences relevant to the industry.
  • Possession of a current Electrical Tag & Test Certificate.
