About the role

The Manager Budgeting and Planning is responsible for developing and implementing a budgeting and forecasting framework, providing tactical and operational expertise, advice and support across TAFE NSW to support the decision making of executive leadership and other teams. The position contributes to the measurement and allocation of targets and budgets and undertakes detailed forecasting processes, including complex modelling for forecasting and target allocation.

Specifically, the role is instrumental in leading TAFE NSW's end-to-end forecast process, from bottom-up build through to the consolidated projection provided to the Office of the CFO. The role drives forecast accuracy and methodology, translates cost drivers into the language of frontline operations, and partners across Finance and the business to turn variance reporting into forward decision support. You will also help shape the move to a dedicated finance planning system and a rolling forecast model.

You pair strong analytical and modelling ability with the communication skills to influence at executive level. You are comfortable translating financial detail into practical advice, you lead and develop junior members of the team, and you build trust quickly across the business. You bring initiative and pace to a complex, changing environment. Experience preparing and presenting executive level reporting is highly regarded.

Essential Requirements:

  2. Demonstrated understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, Public Finance and Audit Act, Treasurer’s Directions and other government regulations.
  3. Significant experience in complex modelling and analysis in a large organisation with large data sets.
