About the role
A General Assistant Toolstore Person is responsible for providing high level customer service to enhance the effective and efficient delivery of frontline class support. Your day-to-day activities will include but not limited to supporting students by contributing to a positive learning experience, general administration work, purchasing and organising tools, equipment and materials for students and staff. This position will carry out manual handling activities.
This role involves daily physical duties. We encourage applications from candidates who can meet the role requirements, and we support reasonable adjustments where required. This role may require you to work flexible shifts between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm as per business requirements.
We are currently building a Talent Pool for upcoming casual vacancies in 2026 and 2027 across our Western City and Central City locations within various Trade Industries.

Trade Industries include:
- Plumbing
- Electrical & refrigeration
- Carpentry & joinery
- Shop fitting & detailed joinery
- Cabinet making & furnishing
- Plastering
- Painting & decorating
- Wall & floor tilling, and waterproofing
- Bricklaying, paving & stone masonry
- Light & heavy vehicle automotive
- Automotive repair & refinish
- Engineering & metal fabrication
About you
You're a proactive self-starter who enjoys being hands-on and supporting positive learning outcomes in the classroom. You are passionate about sharing your industry knowledge and experience with others and take pride in helping students succeed. With demonstrated experience working in a trade environment, you're confident using a range of hand and power tools and can undertake minor repairs and maintenance when required.
Essential Criteria
- A valid Working with Children Check (required prior to commencement)
- Demonstrated experience working within a trade environment or related work areas
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of purchasing within a trade environment
- Demonstrated experience in use of hand & power tools, small machinery and tool maintenance in a trade environment
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member or with limited supervision
Highly Desirable:
- Forklift Licence
- Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies, in particular Microsoft excel, word and outlook
- Demonstrated experience in following WH&S instructions such as using correct PPE and following safe operating procedures
