About the role

Joining our Underground Mining team, this role involves the operation of long hole production drill rig, charging up production blast holes in the underground mine operation, and being able to drill and install cable bolting. You will ensure safe operations of the equipment to meet drilling targets and report any irregularities immediately, while upholding the Company’s Code of Conduct, by displaying the appropriate work attitude and teamwork.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Operate in compliance with site instructions, including Survey Memos, Geology direction, and Ground Support Standards.
  • Ensure equipment is safe to operate and kept in clean working order. Report any defects to the superintendent or fitters.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or hazards to the superintendent immediately.
  • Assess ground conditions at the face and implement ground control according to site requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all underground regulatory and mine standards.
  • Any other Mining Operations duties as delegated from time to time by the Mine Superintendent
  • Work closely with the Mining shift boss to assess performance and identify improvements to maximise results, reduce risk and minimise wastage of jumbo consumables.
  • Responsible for ongoing communication with supervisors.
  • Responsible for processing of detailed daily reports to the supervisors and his oncoming shift.
  • Responsible for housekeeping as per standard.
  • Maintain work relationship with all working crews during shift hours.
  • Responsible for stope charging, stope mining and rise mining.
  • Responsible for production drills – long holes.
  • Responsible for timbering and cable bolting.
  • Responsible to safely operate the equipment.
  • Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
  • Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you

  • Possess current 5+ years plus of underground mining experience (Essential)
  • Must have a shot firers licenses or evidence to proof handling of explosives.
  • Must understand the different explosives and charging principles.
  • Relevant operating permits endorsed by the Site Registered Manager
  • Heavy Lifting/Manual Handling Training
  • Must have at least 3 or more years of Solo Operation on a production rig, pneumatic and or electric.
  • Must understand the critical components of the drill rig and the functions.
  • Must be trained and able to charge the drilled holes with explosives.
  • Has certified Miner certificate in area of handling hand drill machine.
  • Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
  • Have a strong understanding of the mining cycle.
  • Flexible, adaptable and be a strong and proactive team player.
  • Ability to meet agreed schedules and deadlines.
