About the role
To lead, mentor and develop the Mine engineering team in the provision of medium term and/or strategic mine planning as well as undertaking a range of short-term production and capital projects under Mine Technical Services Department.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure all aspects of mining operations design and planning comply with Company policy and statutory requirements including health and safety, environment, and agreement with landowners.
- Ensure the effective completion of all medium, long term and/or strategic mine planning activities for underground operations, including production scheduling, reconciliation, reporting, underground mine optimisation, design, cost estimations, along with conduct of meetings, and supervision, development and mentoring of mine planning and projects engineers.
- Ensure that technical projects are progressed in a timely manner. Optimize operational mining efficiency, maintaining cost control and maximizing production.
- Develop and submit for approval operating mine design plans that are compatible with site targets and goals.
- Collaborate with mine operational and engineering teams to ensure alignment with the mine schedule and plan.
About You
To be considered for this role it is essential that you must have a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering and must have mining operational experience with 5 years of technical experience in a similar role. In addition to this, you will have some or all the following.
- Strong computer skills with mine design (Surpac) and scheduling programs.
- Sound knowledge of safe mining practices and standards in an underground Narrow Vein Mine.
- Thorough knowledge of the PNG Mine Safety Act and Regulations.
- Prior experience in leading a team of junior engineers.
- Proven multitasking skills and ability to work under pressure.
