The role:

The Senior Lead: Culture & Safeguarding plays a critical role in ensuring high standards of child safeguarding across the CESL school system. This role focuses on developing practices and a culture that supports a robust child-safeguarding agenda, in accordance with the Victorian Child-Safe Standards and the National Catholic Child Safe Standards. You will lead the implementation of evidence-based strategies to create calm, culturally safe, and respectful learning environments. This position is also responsible for ensuring the integration of safeguarding standards across all CESL entities, with a particular focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of child safeguarding and wellbeing programs across CESL schools.
  • Implement and track evidence-based strategies, including MTSS Tier One curriculum and timely interventions, ensuring a safe and inclusive school environment.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to embed the Child Safeguarding Standards across all CESL entities.
  • Provide leadership and support for Tier 3 interventions, focusing on culturally safe schools and outstanding Aboriginal Education programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in student behaviour and wellbeing curricula, ensuring alignment with CESL’s mission and values.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant area (e.g., Business, Education).
  • Significant experience in educational leadership, child safeguarding, and wellbeing curriculum.
  • Strong understanding of Victorian Child Safe Standards and National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, and implement research-informed curriculum.
