The Opportunity
We're looking for hands-on Research Assistants to support an exciting pilot study with the Road Safety Research Collaboration. In this role, you’ll assist with fieldwork, setting up data collection equipment, and ensuring accurate, high-quality data is captured.

You will
- assist with the deployment, operation, and monitoring of ANPR cameras across urban and rural sites in Queensland;
- perform data collection tasks, including capturing, verifying, and organising data from fieldwork activities;
- maintain accurate project documentation, ensuring adherence to research protocols and ethical guidelines;
- perform administrative and operational tasks as directed by a Supervisor to support project delivery; and
- contribute to a positive and safe work environment for you and others, by modelling and promoting conduct that is culturally capable, inclusive, respectful, and ethical.
About you
You bring a positive and approachable attitude to your work, helping to build good relationships with colleagues and project partners. With solid communication skill, both written and verbal you’re able to share research findings clearly and effectively. You enjoy working as part of a team and are always willing to support others to contribute to the success of research projects.
You will possess:
- A valid driver’s licence is required for travel to/from and between research sites (MANDATORY – ‘C’ or ‘CA’ car class).
- Willing to travel within Queensland (by land and air transport) to data collection locations.
- Capacity to follow protocols carefully, record data accurately, and ensure consistency in data collection procedures.
- Capability to follow direction from a Supervisor while working collaboratively in field-based settings.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues, assisted by a procedural manual.
- Capability to interact professionally with team members and maintain project confidentiality.
- Ability to focus on data collection tasks for extended periods and set up lightweight research equipment.
- Ability to work autonomously on-site, while maintaining communication with a Supervisor.
- Previous experience in data collection or fieldwork (desirable but not essential).
