The Opportunity

In this education-focused role, you will lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) across undergraduate and postgraduate Business and Commerce programs. You will develop and deliver a range of WIL models, including industry placements, project-based and capstone courses, simulated and online experiences, and student mobility initiatives. Your focus will be on creating authentic, high-impact learning experiences that are academically rigorous, scalable, and aligned with contemporary professional practice.

Working collaboratively with academic colleagues, industry partners, and UniSC’s centralised WIL team, you will build and sustain strong partnerships to expand student opportunities across the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, and broader regions. You will contribute to the development of inclusive and innovative WIL models, engage stakeholders in co-creating real-world learning experiences, and support interdisciplinary approaches that enhance student employability and reflect evolving industry needs.

You will:

  • deliver high-quality, student-centred teaching through innovative curriculum design, contemporary learning practices, effective assessment, and meaningful student engagement across diverse learning environments including both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching;
  • contribute to the University’s research profile by developing expertise, undertaking impactful research, collaborating with research teams, publishing outcomes, and supporting research partnerships and higher degree research supervision;
  • build and maintain strong regional, national, and international partnerships that connect academic expertise with industry, community, and professional practice to deliver meaningful external engagement outcomes; and
  • contribute to the University’s strategic priorities through active participation in service, leadership, governance, and collaborative initiatives that support teaching, research, and broader institutional objectives.

About you:

You are a motivated, industry-connected academic with a passion for delivering innovative, high-impact Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experiences that prepare students for success in contemporary business environments. You bring demonstrated capability in designing, coordinating, and delivering placement and project-based WIL programs, and are an engaging educator who creates authentic, practice-based learning that integrates real-world industry contexts and supports diverse student cohorts to achieve strong employability outcomes. A collaborative and proactive professional, you build productive partnerships with industry, government, and community organisations to create meaningful student opportunities, while contributing to curriculum innovation, scholarship, and continuous improvement. You are confident using digital systems, data, and reporting tools to support effective program coordination and quality outcomes, and you contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collegial academic environment focused on student success.

You will possess:

  • A doctoral qualification (completed or near completion) in a relevant business or commerce discipline, or equivalent professional standing
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, coordination, or delivery of Work Integrated Learning (WIL), including placement and/or project-based models
  • Proven effectiveness as an applied, industry-integrated educator, with the ability to design and deliver authentic, practice-based learning, develop employability-focused curriculum and assessment, and engage diverse student cohorts to achieve strong learning outcomes
  • A strong track record in building and sustaining productive partnerships with industry, government, or community organisations to create meaningful student opportunities
  • An emerging profile in research and/or Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), including publications and contributions to WIL, curriculum innovation, or student employability
  • Well-developed organisational and digital capability, including the use of systems, power BI, data, and reporting to support program coordination, continuous improvement, and student employability outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience designing or delivering online, virtual, or scalable WIL models for diverse or distributed student cohorts
  • Experience developing and delivering student mobility or field-based WIL programs, including academic quality assurance and coordination
