The role

We are seeking an experienced Wills and Estate Planning Senior Associate or Special Counsel with 6+ years or more of post admission experience to join our busy and successful Commercial (Private Client Services) team at Piper Alderman.

Working directly with Partners, Donna Benge and Rod Jones, this is a rare and exciting opportunity to work across a range of varied matters as part of our national Private Client Services practice including:

  • complex estate, succession and wills planning;
  • advising high-net-worth individuals and succession planning for business owners and family groups including long-term wealth preservation and business continuity;
  • family governance and family constitutions, structuring and restructuring of family groups;
  • trusts and trustee advice;
  • superannuation and SMSFs;
  • asset protection and intergenerational wealth transfer;
  • private wealth and philanthropic structures.

This role will give you the opportunity to consistently challenge yourself through being exposed to a range of interesting work, as well as being exposed to a range of clients with flexible career progression options. You will be provided with continuous learning opportunities and will be mentored and supported as you develop your career. Your learning experience will be underpinned by an excellent CLE program and the opportunity to build relationships within our National Commercial team and gain exposure to work across Australia.

To succeed in this role you will ideally have

  • Experience as an admitted lawyer with 6+ years PQE experience within estate and succession planning
  • A strong academic record coupled with excellent technical legal skills
  • Excellent business development skills and experience working with family offices, accountants and financial advisers
  • A commitment to excellence and delivery of high-quality outcomes to our clients
  • Ability to effectively manage your own time, managing competing tasks and at times working to tight deadlines  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain client relationships
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A proactive and ‘can do’ attitude with an eagerness to learn and grow your career with Piper Alderman
