Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer Senior/Energy Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing energy usage on campus. The main goal is to optimize energy utilization, increase energy efficiency, and lower energy costs. The energy manager will conduct energy audits, identify areas of inefficiency, develop and implement energy-saving initiatives, monitor energy usage and costs, assist with negotiating energy contracts, and educate staff on energy conservation and efficiency practices.

Required Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of mechanical engineering. Considerable skills in developing and preparing contract documents. Thorough knowledge of communication protocols. Knowledge of Windows operating systems. Ability to test, evaluate, implement, and troubleshoot networking hardware and software malfunctions in a complex, campus-wide telecommunications network. Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical, pneumatic, and digital controls. Highly familiar with Excel.
A combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities, including education, certifications, and/or experience with commercial-scale mechanical systems and Building Automation software, controlling and communication with field equipment and devices. Formal education in Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Experience with control strategies for a campus/plant of significant scale (500,000 points monitored or greater).
Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of LEED and other sustainability tracking systems. Ability to use diagnostic tools to analyze, identify, and resolve telecommunications and control problems. Extensive knowledge of Johnson Controls ADX (extended application and data server), Lutron Lighting Control System and Automated Logic Corporation (WebCtrl software) for energy saving strategies. Demonstrated experience in the development of presentations and other report writing tools. Knowledge of utility-grade power generation from non-utility sources.
