Job Description

The Department of Music welcomes applications for adjunct performance, courses and clinical music therapy faculty positions to assist in teaching of undergraduate and graduate applied music studios, courses, ensembles, clinical supervisions in music therapy or academic classes.

Adjunct Faculty positions supplement the faculty of a department wherever additional faculty are needed. Adjunct faculty hold, as defined by their letter of appointment without eligibility for tenure; where authorized by the Dean, adjunct appointments may be renewed. Adjunct appointments do not guarantee course assignments.

Specific responsibilities of adjunct faculty are given in their letter of appointment. The specific starting and expiration dates for appointments are noted in their letter of appointment.

Primary responsibilities include teaching in the area of the candidate’s specialization. Adjunct faculty shall be evaluated in every course, including summer session.

Required Qualifications

All faculty must have at least a Master’s degree in the field/discipline in which they are teaching with 18 hours of course work related to the course(s) being taught. In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience teaching applied lessons and courses at the collegiate level.

Applicants must submit an unofficial copy of transcripts of post-secondary course with the application. If the applicant’s official transcripts are on file in the Office of the Provost, a statement indicating such, must be submitted in lieu of the documents with the application. Official transcripts of all post-secondary course work will be required upon selection for hire.

Adjunct instructors must attend a scheduled adjunct orientation as offered upon appointment. Orientation date and time will be announced.
