Job Summary
The Interim Director of the Arts & Crafts Program leads a vibrant, student-centered creative hub within Student Life, inspiring students to explore, experiment, and engage with art and craft processes and histories. This role shapes the program’s vision in alignment with institutional priorities while fostering meaningful connections across campus through partnerships with academic departments, Admissions, Wellness, Human Resources, New Student Orientation, and more. Blending leadership, teaching, and mentorship, the Interim Director cultivates an inclusive and accessible studio environment that supports students’ holistic development, well-being, and career readiness through contemporary craft.
This position is an interim appointment with a two-year duration.

Responsibilities
- Program Development and Teaching:
- Develops, manages, and facilitates a comprehensive portfolio of arts and crafts programming, including core classes and workshops, student Independent Projects, the Fiber Fellowship program, Visiting Artist workshops, the Staff and Faculty Art & Wellness Programs, and the CC Fashion Show.
- Teaches co-curricular, craft-based classes and workshops designed to be accessible to a wide range of learners and to support creative skill building and self-expression.
- Student Staff Supervision and Development:
- Supervises and mentors Arts and Crafts student staff, including coordinating regularly scheduled programmatic meetings, managing work schedules, facilitating trainings, and supporting the development of career readiness skills.
- Campus Partnerships and Program Advocacy:
- Builds and maintains collaborative relationships across campus to support and expand Arts programming, serving as a liaison to key partners including the Fine Arts Center, Art and Art History Department, CC Press, Creativity and Innovation, the Butler Center, and the library.
- Advocates for Arts programming within Student Life leadership and broader campus leadership.
- Budget and Financial Management:
- Manages program budget and financial operations, including processing artist payments and contracts, overseeing student account charges, and completing P-Card reconciliation.
- Studio Operations and Program Support:
- Provides oversight of core studio spaces, including Ceramics (with responsibility for firing student work), Fibers Studio, Stained-Glass Studio, and the Print Studio (screen-printing), ensuring proper maintenance and supply inventory.
- Provides occasional staffing support for evening and weekend Student Life, student organization, and campus activities programming.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 3 years of experience in a related field
One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in the Arts, Education, or related field
- Experience managing and teaching students within higher education.
- Technical experience maintaining equipment in a multi-use studio, or shop technician experience (experience in running kilns, or maintaining safety around glass or dye processes)

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:
- $56,958 to $68,349 per year
|
|
