Job Summary

Colorado College seeks a forward-thinking leader to shape the future of the institution's enterprise applications, data, integrations, and information services ecosystem. The Director of Enterprise Information Solutions sets and drives the strategic direction for the College's enterprise information portfolio, ensuring the systems, data platforms, and reporting capabilities that support institutional operations remain innovative, effective, and aligned with evolving needs. This role leads and develops a high-performing team, building the structure, capabilities, and culture needed to support the College's future while fostering accountability and continuous growth. Serving as a trusted partner to divisional and institutional leaders, the Director anticipates emerging opportunities and challenges, bringing forward proactive solutions that advance strategic priorities. The position is accountable for the function's multi-year roadmap, portfolio prioritization, organizational design, talent strategy, and the successful leadership of ongoing transformation, innovation, and change.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Organizational Management
    • Provides leadership and direction for Enterprise Information Solutions by establishing performance expectations, defining measures of success, and ensuring accountability for outcomes.
    • Oversees organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, recruitment, and team development, including structured onboarding and knowledge transfer that retain institutional knowledge through staff transition, while making decisions regarding team structure, role responsibilities, and resource allocation.
    • Drives continuous improvement and organizational evolution by identifying emerging technologies, opportunities, and risks that support the College's strategic objectives.
  • Enterprise Strategy, Governance & Transformation
    • Partners with campus leaders to establish technology and data priorities, evaluate institutional investments, and communicate technology strategy to executive and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Leads governance efforts related to data management, ERP optimization, enterprise architecture, and institutional technology planning while representing the College in professional networks and peer organizations.
    • Provides executive sponsorship and accountability for major transformation initiatives, including ERP modernization, platform migrations, and enterprise data programs, ensuring effective management of program risks, dependencies, change impacts, and desired business outcomes.
  • Portfolio, Service & Resource Management
    • Directs enterprise portfolio and demand management processes, including project intake, prioritization, resource allocation, and delivery oversight.
    • Anticipates institutional needs and develops proactive solutions that address emerging opportunities, operational inefficiencies, and organizational risks.
    • Applies emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation, to process improvement and service delivery, directing time-boxed proofs of concept that establish feasibility and institutional value before a commitment to buy or build, and advancing successful pilots into supported production services with defined ownership, documentation, and support expectations.
    • Owns the integration architecture connecting enterprise systems, including interface standards, lifecycle management, and monitoring of institutional data exchange.
    • Leads vendor strategy, contract negotiations, budget planning, and investment decisions for enterprise systems and data services, while ensuring commitments are aligned with institutional priorities and available resources.
  • Enterprise Data, Compliance & Operational Excellence
    • Establishes and maintains standards, policies, and practices governing enterprise architecture, application development, data management, records retention, security, and access controls.
    • Sets standards and practices for the responsible use of artificial intelligence within enterprise systems and institutional data environments, including data protection and access, evaluation of vendor-embedded artificial intelligence capabilities, and requirements for human review of automated outputs, in partnership with institutional technology and data governance bodies.
    • Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including FERPA, GLBA, and PCI DSS, while maintaining accountability for audit readiness and risk management across enterprise systems and data environments.
    • Ensures enterprise systems remain supportable independent of any individual staff member by establishing and maintaining documented standard operating procedures, run books, configuration and customization records, and named system ownership, with scheduled review and structured knowledge transfer at staff transition.
    • Defines and reports key performance indicators related to service reliability, delivery performance, data quality, and total cost of ownership, using metrics to drive operational excellence, support institutional decision-making, and enhance the effectiveness of systems, analytics, and user experiences.

Collaboration Skills:
Communications are highly sophisticated and involve final decisions or recommendations regarding policy development and implementation. Interactions with others outside the organization require exercising participative management skills.

Technical Knowledge:
Work requires advanced skills and knowledge in approaches and systems, which affect the design and implementation of major programs and/or processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 7 years of experience in a related field with at least 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading technical teams, through direct supervision or matrixed leadership of developers, analysts, and vendor resources, with accountability for their delivery and growth.
  • Demonstrated success hiring and developing technical staff, and leading a team through significant turnover or loss of institutional knowledge.
  • Deep experience with Ellucian Banner or a comparable higher education ERP, including custom development and configuration in an environment shaped by years of local modification.
  • Experience owning integration architecture across administrative systems, including interface design, monitoring, and lifecycle management in a portfolio with multiple SaaS platforms.
  • Experience with enterprise data platforms, reporting, and data governance approached as a partnership across institutional stakeholders.
  • Experience applying AI and automation to administrative processes, including running time-boxed proofs of concept, deciding what merits production, and setting practical guardrails for responsible use with institutional data.
  • Experience in higher education, including its compliance environment and the operating rhythm of an academic calendar.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $118,789 to $148,487 per year
