The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Personal Care Worker to join our Community Health and Care team in Rural North West, based in Gisborne.
Working closely with our Senior Workforce Coordinator, you will combine hands-on community care with mentoring and support for our Personal Care Workers. You will help our team deliver safe, consistent and high-quality care while supporting older people to remain independent and live well in their own homes.
- Mentor, coach and support Personal Care Workers, including supporting the induction and development of new team members
- Conduct onsite client visits and Home Safety Assessments, identifying changes in client needs, wellbeing and potential risks
- Work collaboratively with Care Partners, Scheduling and Rostering teams and Client Advisors to support high-quality service delivery
- Provide direct personal care and operational support when required, including leave coverage
- Support workforce coordination, rostering, recruitment, training and continuous improvement activities
About you
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) and Certificate IV in Aged Care
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Strong experience in aged care or community care, with the ability to mentor, coach and support other Personal Care Workers
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a person-centred approach to supporting older people, their families and carers
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and maintain accurate records
- An understanding of aged care quality standards, workplace health and safety and safe care delivery within clients' homes
- The ability to identify changes in client needs and risks and escalate concerns appropriately
