Location: Adelaide, SA

 

About the Role:

We’re seeking a dedicated Yard Supervisor to support the safe and efficient movement of freight and equipment at our Wingfield site. Reporting to the Transport Manager, you’ll oversee on-time trailer turnarounds, provide accurate equipment updates to support weekly planning, and lead a team of freight handlers and tug drivers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely loading and unloading of trailers in line with arrival and departure schedules
  • Maximise trailer utilisation through inspections, payload checks, and load photo uploads via the D3 portal
  • Conduct daily yard walks, manage delayed freight reporting, and ensure accurate scanning and allocation
  • Provide daily and weekly equipment updates to support operational and strategic planning
  • Lead and manage freight handlers and tug drivers, including rostering, performance, and attendance
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Workshop teams and Cavan depot, to ensure smooth freight movement
  • Ensure Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and load restraint compliance while maintaining high safety standards
  • Maintain site cleanliness and operational standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives

 

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in yard or transport operations, preferably in a supervisory or team-lead role
  • Strong understanding of freight handling, trailer utilisation, and equipment management
  • Experience in rostering, staff performance management, and leading operational teams
  • Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility (CoR), load restraint legislation, and workplace safety standards
  • Ability to support operational and strategic planning through equipment availability and resource management
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, collaborating across depots, workshops, and operational teams
  • Proficient in computer systems, including freight scanning/manifesting software and tools such as Excel for reporting and planning
  • Forklift licence (essential); Car licence (essential); Truck licence (desirable)
