As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Yard Manager to play a key leadership role in our operations.

 

About the Role


As Yard Manager, you will take full ownership of yard operations at our Wingfield site, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of freight and equipment. Reporting to the Transport Manager, you’ll drive performance across trailer turnaround times, equipment utilisation, and team productivity, while maintaining the highest safety standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll lead from the front, manage a dedicated team, and contribute to both day-to-day operations and longer-term planning.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all yard activities to ensure efficient loading, unloading, and dispatch in line with operational schedules
  • Drive trailer utilisation through proactive inspections, payload management, and system updates via the D3 portal
  • Conduct routine yard audits, manage delayed freight reporting, and ensure accurate freight scanning and allocation
  • Provide clear, timely equipment updates to support operational and strategic planning
  • Lead, coach, and manage yard staff including freight handlers and tug drivers (rostering, performance, and attendance)
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including Workshop and depot operations, to optimise freight flow
  • Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), load restraint regulations, and all safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and high-performing yard environment, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

 

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in transport or yard operations, with leadership or management responsibility
  • Strong understanding of freight handling, trailer utilisation, and equipment coordination
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive accountability
  • Solid knowledge of CoR requirements, load restraint, and workplace safety practices
  • Experience supporting planning through effective resource and equipment management
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across operational teams
  • Competency in freight systems, scanning/manifesting tools, and reporting (e.g., Excel)
  • Forklift licence (essential), Car licence (essential), HC Truck licence (desirable)
