The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Yard Supervisor to lead our afternoon shift operations in Hazelmere. This role is responsible for overseeing all yard activities to ensure freight is handled safely, efficiently, and in line with operational and customer requirements.

You will play a key role in driving operational performance, maintaining compliance, and leading a high-performing team while fostering a strong safety culture.

This is a Monday to Friday PM Shift role (2:00pm – 10:00pm) with expected overtime, supervising yard operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership and day-to-day direction to yard staff, promoting a positive, inclusive, and safety-first culture
  • Oversee the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and movement of freight to maximise payload and equipment utilisation
  • Manage workforce planning, including rostering, attendance, and leave to ensure operational coverage and continuity
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and service delivery
  • Ensure team members are adequately trained, equipped, and supported to perform their roles safely and effectively
  • Manage workplace matters including performance, conduct, and conflict resolution in collaboration with People & Capability
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers
  • Monitor yard performance and escalate operational issues or service delays as required
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, including Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and fatigue management requirements
  • Provide leadership coverage for after-hours operations as required

 

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role within a transport or logistics environment
  • Strong understanding of freight handling, scanning, and manifesting processes
  • Proven leadership capability with the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • Sound knowledge of fatigue management legislation and Chain of Responsibility obligations
  • Ability to interpret Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBA)
  • Strong problem-solving, organisational, and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proficiency in transport systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Current LF (Forklift) licence
  • Load Restraint knowledge and/or certification, with the ability to ensure compliant and safe load securement practices
