| The VCU College of Health Professions invites applications for a senior tenure-track faculty position specializing in Brain Health and Neurodegeneration. We seek an established, highly motivated, visionary scientist with a consistent record of extramural funding, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership in advancing knowledge of brain health and neurodegenerative disorders - including research examining topics from cell-to-society and biological, behavioral, and/or social factors influencing optimal outcomes.

This position is part of a University-wide initiative to recruit high-impact tenured faculty members to support its rapidly growing, transformative research portfolio, with University sponsored research awards of more than $550m in FY25. The College of Health Professions is collaborating with the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation to identify talented research faculty.
Strategic Alignment & Scope
This hire aligns with the CHP strategic priority to build on current expertise in brain health, aging, and neurodegenerative conditions across the lifespan and will amplify scientific discovery and dissemination in Neurodegeneration and Aging. The candidate will catalyze an interdisciplinary, cohesive, and comprehensive research agenda, leveraging VCU’s status as a top-tier research university to advance health equity, improve health outcomes, and optimize health care delivery. | The College of Health Professions is seeking adjunct professors to teach a class (classes) in the undergraduate minor in research ecosystems developed by the Student Pathways Collaborative (SP) (representatives from VCU Human Resources, OVPRI, School of Medicine, Massey Comprehensive Cancer Human Resources) with the CHP and Wright Center (WC).
The research ecosystem minor is an interprofessional undergraduate curriculum that develops foundational skills across research ecosystems in various research domains. The minor is built on the premise that all research domains are increasing their research endeavors, including art, engineering, health, and education, and require trained and qualified professionals with expertise in both the research ecosystem and the content of their chosen domain. The minor’s courses focus on the competencies in job descriptions for various research ecosystem positions and the necessary skills to ensure the successful management and administration of research. Successful completion of the minor contributes to the building of professional staff infrastructure supporting research teams as they create impactful research. In addition to didactic and skills-building courses, students complete the minor with an internship focused on a research ecosystem position of their choice and within their research domain. This is a career-focused minor with the primary outcome being employed as a member of the research team.
Topic areas include: research ethics across research domains (education, social work, business, engineering, health, etc) in the Fall semester. Courses in site operations, team science, project management in the Spring semester. |
