About this Position
The Director of Marketing & Communications will oversee the strategic branding, marketing, market research and communications for OSU-OKC. Provide comprehensive, integrated strategic marketing and communications planning and implementation in support of university and system goals to grow Oklahoma’s high-tech workforce. These efforts align with OSU’s strategic marketing and communications plan which prioritizes recruitment, retention and reputation management. Must understand current strategic communications, marketing and outreach strategies and have an adaptable writing style for various audiences. The individual should be highly organized and have the ability to manage multiple projects. Additionally, this individual must be adept at working with individuals at various roles and leadership levels, collecting feedback and improving communications based on information received. The individual should demonstrate self-direction, creativity and strategic thinking in finding new opportunities to showcase Oklahoma State University.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, business, English or a related field. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Valid Oklahoma Drivers License
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Demonstrated skills in brand strategy, media relations, analysis of marketing data, website content, collateral development, publications management, advertising and creative direction.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to organize materials, write, edit, visualize concepts, communicate and interpret goals.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of AP style.
- Must possess excellent supervisory and people skills to effectively deal with staff and stakeholders for projects.
- Project management experience required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of communications and marketing strategies and platforms.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with supervisors, staff and campus partners to ensure a collaborative environment, coordinated efforts and maximized outcomes.
- Must learn quickly and demonstrate flexibility in the work environment.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with different priorities and tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate creativity, integrity and passion for growing the institution and system.
- Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.
Essential Job Functions:
- Clearly communicate and improve the brand recognition of OSU-OKC and OSU Polytech among targeted audiences, including prospective students, parents, industry partners, community leaders, alumni and other constituents across Oklahoma.
- Support OSU-OKC and OSU Polytech programs enrollment goals by directing proactive marketing and communication efforts for all target audiences, including prospective students, parents, high school counselors. Develop and execute marketing and communication plans for various university divisions, working in conjunction with academic division leaders to ensure all programs have the communications resources to succeed.
- Supervise and lead staff in the areas of media relations, internal communications, executive communications, graphic design, video/photographic services, content development and social media.
- Assist in building an environment of collaboration and teamwork in the unit and across multiple departments, colleges and campuses.
- Directly oversees and maintains advertising budget and implementation of goals and objectives.
- Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development sessions each year.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends.
- Travel may be required throughout Oklahoma to support statewide initiatives.

- Duties require extended periods of sitting, standing, talking, listening and computer usage.
- Duties require extensive use of computers, telephone and other office equipment.
- Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weights more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
