About this Position

The Department of Chemistry at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Organic Chemistry to begin April 1, 2026. This is a research postdoctoral position, and the candidate will work on projects involving C–F functionalization of a variety of molecular structural motifs. The specific projects will focus on the development of a general catalytic platform to activate and derivatize alkylfluorinated molecules, including PFAS. Interested candidates can refer to the following recent publications from the Huang lab for details on the research project background: ACS Catal. 2024, 14, 17547; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2025, 64, e202419591; Dalton Trans. 2025, 54, 11725. A successful candidate will be required to regularly present/report on research progress, write scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, disseminate research at national conferences, help mentor and train student researchers, and assist the preparation of grant proposals.

Length of Appointment:

The initial appointment is for one year. Opportunities of renewal beyond this first year are contingent upon available funding.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D./Ed.D. in Chemistry
    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Extensive training and experience in synthetic organic chemistry research.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous postdoctoral training and experience with C–F functionalization and indigo chemistry is preferred.
