About this Position
Looking for a motivated, skilled Locksmith to join the Facilities Management Keys department on the Oklahoma State University campus!
This position provides, maintains, repairs, installs, and manages all campus locking and access control systems to ensure the physical security of university facilities, employees, students, and assets. This position provides expert technical support for mechanical locks, electronic access systems, key control, and door hardware while maintaining compliance with institutional security policies. The applicant will be responsible for safely operating vans, trucks, and utility vehicles. They will be responsible for maintaining departmental equipment and report any damage, malfunction, and/or safety issues to the supervisor.
This employee must be able to cut keys by code and duplicate keys using various types of key-cutting machinery. Stamp, engrave, and file keys to ensure the safety and security of campus keys and locks. Maintain records of key recipients and respective key codes.
This position requires the use of an electronic handheld device to record daily notes on work orders for reporting purposes. Must work well with students, faculty & staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment. Must be able to change the key on the lock cylinders. Repair, adjust, replace, and install door locks. Install, maintain, and repair low-voltage electronic access devices. Adjusts and changes the function of door locks as necessary by changing internal parts or exchanging the entire lock body to ensure the mechanical security of University rooms.
The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 4:30 pm, and/or shift work when management deems necessary. The ability to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of weather will be required. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.
Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors, and loud noises. Regularly stands, lifts, bends, stoops, lifts above shoulders, and carries 50 lbs or more. Appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment), gloves, safety glasses, etc., are provided for use in the workplace.

Required Qualifications
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Two years of locksmith experience, which includes key-cutting machines and related equipment, or mechanical, carpentry, handyman, or related experience, may be considered as an acceptable alternative.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.
The individual hired for this position must successfully complete a Department of Justice/Federal Bureau of Investigation (DOJ/FBI) security risk assessment (SRA) within 90 days from the date of hire.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Ability to pin locks, identify keys, and cut duplicates, maintain and repair all types of door hardware. Must be able to interact responsibly with the general public.
Must be trustworthy and have high integrity due to the nature of this position and the accessibility to University keys. Ability to become proficient in the use of "AiM" computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.
Must work safely and promote a safe work environment—ability to lift 50lbs regularly and over 50lbs occasionally.
