The Senior Research Specialist will support horticultural crop research, with a primary focus on tree fruit. This position is responsible for managing and operating laboratory equipment and facilities. Key responsibilities include proficiency in operating High Performance Liquid Chromatography, microspectrometers, microscopes, water potential pressure chambers, and other related instruments.
The candidate should also have experience in plant tissue culture techniques and greenhouse management, as well as the ability to perform hands-on tasks such as repairing irrigation systems and general equipment maintenance.
The position involves close collaboration with faculty and students, assisting in field work including sample collection, plant index testing, and other research activities. Additional duties include supervising graduate students and managing lab data and research records. Must have the ability to travel to various locations within the state for sample and data collection.
The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, highly efficient, and capable of working independently with strong practical skills. Completion of coursework related to horticultural crops is preferred to ensure a solid understanding of the field and the position’s requirements.
This is a grant funded position contingent upon performance and available funding.
About Us: The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture has 23 faculty with both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The department operates The Botanic Garden at OSU, Oklahoma Gardening television show, the Greenhouse Learning Center, the Landscape Architecture Studio, the OSU Student Farm, and is active at several research sites through the Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station. GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position will facilitate learning for a custom an ACR program at a public high school located in Tulsa, OK. Courses are based on ACR technology, including licensing requirements, safety, and tools. Commercial and residential a/c and heating systems, and commercial refrigeration. As well as, basic electrical properties, theories of operation of electrical components common to ACR systems and wiring and troubleshooting of basic circuits. Courses will begin August 2025. |

Position Details:
This position is located in the McIntosh County Extension Office, Eufala, OK. Position provides leadership to family and consumer sciences (FCS) and supports the 4-H youth development programs with approximately 50% of time spent in FCS and 50% of time spent in 4-H youth development work. Participates as a cohesive OSU Extension team member to involve local clientele and advisory groups to plan, implement, and evaluate the total county program. Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain cellular or other electronic communication device. The incumbent’s salary includes compensation to apply toward the use of their personal cellular device.
Extension educators comply with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, etc., related to equal opportunity, civil rights, and affirmative action. Extension educators are hired into the organization not into a specific geographic location. It is possible that future circumstances may require relocation.
Base annual salary for entry level educators who have a bachelor's degree is $44,000 and a master's degree $50,000. Starting salary is based upon education and prior relevant work experience. Extension educators hired with only a bachelor’s degree are encouraged to work toward completion of an approved master’s degree.
Continuation of employment is based upon need, performance and available county funding. |
