Position Summary:
The University of Northwestern – St. Paul is launching a brand-new podcast—The UNWavering Podcast—and we’re looking for a talented and detail-oriented student to serve as the Podcast Producer. The show’s heartbeat is captured in its slogan: “The people, the purpose, the pulse of Northwestern.” This podcast will celebrate the stories, mission, and vibrant community of UNW, and the Podcast Producer will play a key role in shaping the sound and feel of each episode.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a meaningful and creative project from the ground up. You’ll gain real-world experience in audio editing, storytelling, and digital content production—all while contributing to something that builds community and reflects the values of Northwestern.
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit podcast episodes from raw audio to final cut, including cutting, mixing, sound balancing, and mastering for quality and clarity.
- Create short promotional/commercial segments for use within episodes, aligned with university messaging and tone (i.e. Homecoming, Purple Donut Run, Christmas at NW, etc.)
- Write episode descriptions that summarize content, spotlight guest stories, and invite listeners into the heart of the conversation.
- Collaborate closely with podcast hosts and other contributors to ensure each episode aligns with the show’s mission and creative vision.
- Maintain organized files, edit logs, and archives for easy access and future reference.
- Offer creative input and stay informed on podcasting trends and editing techniques.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Qualifications:
Required
• Experience with audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity, GarageBand, Logic Pro, or similar).
• Able to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, tactful and courteous manner
• Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community
Nice to Have
• Previous experience with podcast production or other audio/media projects.
• Familiarity with podcast hosting and publishing platforms is a bonus.
• Interest in storytelling, communications, digital media, or marketing.

• Technical Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related software.
• Written & Verbal Communication: Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
• Background Check: Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.

The work environment involves working for a suburban, Christian university or Christian owned and operated radio station alongside those with a demonstrated commitment and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a commitment to the mission and values of Northwestern, and an agreement to abide by all Northwestern policies.
