Position Summary:
The Event Assistant supports Alumni & Family Engagement by helping bring impactful campus and community events to life. Through event planning, marketing support, and on-site execution, this role helps create welcoming experiences for UNW alumni, families, and community members at events including Homecoming, Commencement, Parent Orientation, the State Fair, and more.
This position is for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support all phases of event planning, marketing and execution, including general event tasks and volunteer recruitment.
- Work with team to assist with event specific content creation and editing for social media and newsletters.
- Update event attendee information in Raiser’s Edge and other pertinent software.
- Communicate with and assist staff, faculty, students, and/or guests
- Assist in general clerical duties.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:
- Experience with Instagram and other social media platforms
- Able to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, tactful and courteous manner
- Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community
Key Skills:
- Independent & Teamwork: Capable of working both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision.
- Confidentiality: Maintains discretion and handles sensitive information appropriately.
- Organizational Skills: Strong time management and problem-solving abilities; able to prioritize and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related software.
- Written & Verbal Communication: Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Punctuality & Initiative: Prompt, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting responsibilities.
- Background Check: Must pass background check as a condition of employment.
