Work that matters
The role will build new capability in PFAS detection and biotransformation research, elevating the University’s profile and contributing vital knowledge that shapes safer packaging practices and environmental management across Australia.
The team
Reporting to the project’s Chief Investigator within the Future Industries Institute at our Mawson Lakes Campus, the Research Associate will contribute to a research stream that strengthens the University’s capability in emerging contaminant science and supports the generation of evidence that benefits both the University and the wider community.

Experience
To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience:
- A PhD (or nearly completed) with a focus in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in PFAS experimentation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrated through written work such as research reports and research publications, and through effective liaison with external partners, colleagues and students.
- Evidence of high-quality research output commensurate with the length of research career, published in leading journals and presented in appropriate forums.
- Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage workloads efficiently and meet competing deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a research team.
It would be considered an asset if candidates also have:
- Experience in non-targeted PFAS analysis
- Understanding of biological transformation of PFAS precursors
