We are seeking a Soil Education and Engagement Officer to deliver regionally tailored soil education, training and engagement initiatives as part of the National Soils Education Opportunity (NSEO). Working collaboratively with industry, researchers and regional stakeholders, you will support the delivery of practical, evidence-based learning experiences that strengthen soil capability across the agricultural sector.

Work that matters 

This role contributes to a nationally coordinated program that develops and delivers regionally relevant, evidence-based soil education and learning resources. You will be working closely with growers, consultants, advisers, researchers and industry partners, you will integrate regional knowledge, industry priorities and emerging soil science research into practical education initiatives that strengthen soil capability across the agricultural sector.

Through stakeholder engagement and the delivery of innovative learning opportunities, you will help improve soil literacy, support informed decision-making, promote the adoption of best-practice soil management, and contribute to the long-term productivity and sustainability of Australia's grains industry.

The team 

Reporting to the Research Fellow, you will join the National Soils Education Opportunity (NSEO), a collaborative national network committed to advancing soil education and capability across Australia's grain-growing regions. Working closely with Regional Node Leaders and multidisciplinary project partners, the team combines expertise in soil science, education and industry engagement to deliver practical outcomes that benefit growers and the wider agricultural sector.

Experience 

To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience: 

• A qualification in agriculture, soil science, environmental science, education or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
• Experience planning, coordinating and delivering education, training, extension or industry engagement activities.
• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with growers, consultants, industry groups, government agencies and research organisations.
• Experience developing or adapting learning, education or extension resources informed by stakeholder needs and regional priorities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
• Well-developed communication, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.
