Financial Control Accountant

The Financial Control (FC) team provides financial control, reporting and advice services to the Finance Community to ensure strong financial control for Suncorp Group. As the Finacial Control Accountant you will provide end to end ledger control and balance sheet reconciliations for the Suncorp Group Limited and its subsidiaries.

What you’ll do:

• Support the FC team to ensure robust financial control processes are being practised for Suncorp Insurance and Group entities
• Upload and post IFRS17 and non-IFRS17 journals manual journals to support daily operational and month-end close processes using Oracle EBS and FAH templates.
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of work undertaken by the Financial Control process, including daily and monthly balance sheet reconciliations, cash payments, cash receipts, accounting and reporting.
• Ensuring financial controls are in place to safeguard the integrity of the accounting and reporting for Insurance and Group entities and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Review and analyse opportunities to reduce operational risk arising from existing processes and promote continuous simplification and standardisation. Ensure appropriate documentation is prepared and maintained in accordance with Finance Services Advice Protocols.
• Work alongside the Genpact service providers to achieve month-end and general ledger reconciliation cycle closure within acceptable quality and timeframe limits

What you’ll bring

• Degree in Accounting (or similar) - Mandatory
• CA or CPA qualified, or working towards – Desired
• 5 years + experience with emphasis on a similar role where large computerised systems are utilised.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in Oracle (or similar) general ledger [desirable].
• Strong spreadsheet and word processing skills.
